Upcoming Webinar on Basic Training on Rough Diamond Grading and Valuation in Liberia Project

Join us the webinar event on the project “Basic Training on Rough Diamond Grading and Valuation in Liberia” on May 30th (Mon)!

We would like to invite you to join our webinar event on the recent “Basic Training on Rough Diamond Grading and Valuation in Liberia” project which ran between January and May this year. This challenging project, carried out by Empowerment Works, Inc. and Diamonds for Peace in collaboration with International Gemological Institute, aimed to provide basic training to artisanal diamond miners. By empowering them through education, the project hopes to give mining communities greater knowledge and autonomy within the diamond supply chain, upon which their income depends.

With funding from the World Bank’s Extractives Global Programmatic Support (EGPS) Trust Fund, the training was targeted at 17 diamond mining communities in the western region of Liberia through a two-day workshop held in April followed by the knowledge sharing sessions in May 2022.

The project manager, Chie Murakami, will present about the project followed by a talk from Beth West, the trainer for the workshop. Join us to learn more and ask your own questions about this interesting project, the impact it will have, and the work that is still to come.
